We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control Inspector to ensure compliance with project specifications, customer standards, and company quality requirements.
Position Summary
The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for inspecting all phases of underground utility construction, ensuring work meets customer specifications, company standards, and applicable regulations. This position works closely with field supervisors, drill crews, and customers to identify issues early, reduce rework, and maintain exceptional quality throughout each project.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily quality inspections on HDD and fiber construction projects.
- Verify conduit placement, bore depth, alignment, and installation methods.
- Ensure construction complies with customer specifications, engineering drawings, permits, and company standards.
- Inspect restoration of pavement, concrete, landscaping, and right-of-way areas.
- Review daily production reports, bore logs, redlines, and as-built documentation for accuracy.
- Conduct field audits to verify safety and quality compliance.
- Identify deficiencies and work with field crews to implement corrective actions.
- Track punch-list items through completion.
- Document findings with detailed reports and photographs.
- Monitor subcontractor quality and ensure contract compliance.
- Communicate quality concerns promptly to management.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in underground utility, HDD, telecommunications, or civil construction.
- Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD)
- Fiber optic construction
- Underground utility installation
- Utility locating and damage prevention
- Restoration standards
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, utility maps, and engineering drawings.
- Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills.
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and mobile inspection/reporting applications.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Willingness to travel between project sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- Telecom fiber construction experience.
- Experience with AT&T, Lumen, Comcast, Frontier, or similar utility projects.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Knowledge of customer quality standards and punch-list processes.
- Experience inspecting subcontractor work.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Frequent walking on uneven terrain.
- Ability to work extended hours when required.
