Responsibilities
- Record and process journal entries using accounting software to ensure accurate financial data.
- Perform bank reconciliations regularly to verify account balances and identify discrepancies.
- Manage accounts payable by processing invoices, verifying expenses, and ensuring timely payments.
- Handle accounts receivable tasks, including invoicing clients and tracking payments received.
- Reconcile the general ledger and prepare balance sheet reconciliations in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Assist with payroll processing by ensuring accurate employee compensation records.
- Generate detailed financial reports, including income statements and cash flow statements, to support management decision-making.
- Maintain organized records of all financial transactions, supporting audits and compliance efforts.
- Support budgeting processes by analyzing expenses and preparing variance reports.
- Ensure adherence to accounting standards such as GAAP and maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant financial concepts.
Skills
- Proven experience with bookkeeping, accounting software (QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage), and financial systems.
- Strong understanding of corporate accounting practices as well as non-profit accounting procedures.
- Proficiency in spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets) for data analysis and report writing.
- Knowledge of double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, debits & credits, and account reconciliation processes.
- Experience with payroll processing, accounts payable/receivable management, and bank reconciliations.
- Familiarity with GAAP standards and general ledger accounting principles.
- Ability to perform account analysis, balance sheet reconciliation, and budget preparation accurately.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail; capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently.
- Strong communication skills for clear documentation of financial reports and collaboration with team members.
