Electrician – Data Centers (Hyperscale Self-Perform Construction)
Position Summary:
The Electrician is responsible for the installation, testing, and commissioning support of electrical systems on hyperscale data center construction projects. As part of the Owner's self-perform construction team, the Electrician installs mission-critical electrical infrastructure in accordance with project specifications, National Electrical Code (NEC), safety standards, and company quality requirements.
Working alongside Superintendents, Foremen, Engineers, and Commissioning teams, the Electrician plays a key role in delivering reliable, high-performance electrical systems that support the operation of world-class data centers. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, quality, and productivity while working in a fast-paced construction environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Electrical Installation:
Install and terminate electrical systems including:
- Medium-voltage distribution equipment
- Low-voltage power distribution systems
- Switchgear
- Transformers
- Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS)
- Static Transfer Switches (STS)
- Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems
- Power Distribution Units (PDUs)
- Remote Power Panels (RPPs)
- Busway systems

Electrical Construction Activities:
- Install rigid, EMT, PVC, and flexible conduit systems.
- Install cable tray and cable support systems.
- Pull, route, and terminate power and control cables.
- Install and terminate medium- and low-voltage feeders.
- Install grounding and bonding systems.
- Install equipment supports and electrical hardware.
- Label electrical equipment and circuits in accordance with project standards.
- Verify installations comply with approved drawings and specifications.
Equipment Installation
Assist with installation of:
- Generators
- UPS modules
- Battery systems
- Switchboards
- Switchgear line-ups

- Electrical distribution equipment

Testing & Commissioning Support:
- Perform insulation resistance testing (Megger) where authorised.
- Assist with continuity testing and cable verification.
- Support pre-functional inspections.
- Assist equipment manufacturers during startup activities.
- Support Commissioning teams during functional testing.
- Resolve punch list items identified during commissioning.
- Assist with energisation activities under approved procedures.
Quality Assurance:
- Perform work in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and installation standards.
- Conduct self-quality inspections before requesting formal inspections.
- Correct deficiencies promptly.
- Ensure all work meets company quality expectations.
- Maintain accurate installation records when required.
Safety Responsibilities:
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Work in accordance with OSHA regulations and National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Participate in daily safety briefings and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
- Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain clean and organised work areas.
- Report unsafe conditions immediately.
Productivity & Teamwork:
- Work effectively as part of a self-perform electrical team.
- Coordinate work with other trades.
- Maintain productivity while delivering high-quality workmanship.
- Assist apprentices and less experienced electricians where appropriate.
- Support project schedule milestones and installation targets.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
Documentation:
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, and specifications.
- Verify installation against approved construction documents.
- Record completed work where required.
- Assist with redline drawings and field markups.
- Support material tracking and inventory management.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Completion of a recognised electrical apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
- Licensed Journeyman Electrician (where required by state or local jurisdiction).
- 3–7+ years of commercial or industrial electrical construction experience.
- Experience installing complex electrical systems.
- Ability to read electrical drawings and specifications.
- Strong knowledge of electrical installation practices.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience constructing hyperscale or enterprise data centers.
- Experience with mission-critical electrical infrastructure.
- Experience installing medium-voltage systems.
- Familiarity with commissioning activities.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- CPR/First Aid certification.
- Experience working within self-perform construction teams.

Work Environment
- Full-time position based on active hyperscale data center construction sites.
- Work may involve indoor and outdoor environments in varying weather conditions.
- Frequent standing, climbing, lifting (up to 50 lbs), bending, and working at heights.
- Overtime, night shifts, weekends, and travel may be required to support project schedules and critical energisation activities.

Pay: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
