Job Summary
DeSales Community Development is seeking a versatile, dedicated, and collaborative individual for the full-time position of Community Services Coordinator. This role is one with a significant potential for positive impact, a high degree of diversity in day-to-day responsibilities, and opportunities to build meaningful relationships with residents and community partners. The Coordinator will provide referral services, programming, and limited direct case management to residents living in DeSales' affordable housing communities in the Peabody-Darst-Webbe neighborhood in the City of St. Louis. The Coordinator will also perform grant-related activities, assist property managers and the St. Louis Housing Authority with resident issues, oversee program evaluations, and work with partner agencies to build connections between residents and a robust referral network to improve resident outcomes. The two communities supported by the Community Service Coordinator are scheduled for rehabilitation in 2026-2028. The Coordinator will assist with temporary relocation of residents during the property redevelopment process.
Duties will include:
Direct Service:
- Resident Support: Work directly with residents of DeSales affordable, assessing residents' needs, supporting them in meeting self-identified goals or resolving problems, developing service plans, and facilitating connections to local services in areas such as healthcare, financial literacy, job training, and family support. Meetings occur in at the organization’s office, residents’ homes, or over phone/video.
- Central Referral System: Develop and maintain a robust referral network, ensuring that residents are connected to appropriate service providers and resources.
- Follow-Up and Progress Tracking: Monitor and follow up with residents to ensure successful access to services, adjusting plans as needed to meet goals.
Program Implementation:
- Create and Deliver Programming: Implement on-site programming that meets expressed needs of residents and DeSales operational goals. Collaborate with partner agencies for recruitment, facilitation, and evaluation. Manage program-based outcomes and continue to build additional programming as needed.
- Community Events: Plan, implement, and review monthly Resident Resource Nights, which feature guest speakers and provide valuable resources on topics such as financial coaching, healthcare, and employment opportunities, as well as other community events for affordable housing residents.
- Eviction Prevention Program: Facilitate the Here to Stay eviction prevention program, connecting participants to partners providing financial coaching and individualized support to help residents maintain housing stability.
Partnership Development and Management:
- Maintaining and Expanding Community Partnerships: Develop strong partnerships and referral networks through program collaboration and networking activities to maintain and expand relationships with partner agencies in areas such as housing subsidies, health, education, employment, financial well-being, senior services, and child care.
- Contract Compliance: Ensure responsibilities of Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with partners are being adequately met.
Outcome Tracking, Reporting and Database Management:
- Program Evaluation: Oversee the evaluation of programs by tracking and measuring program effectiveness. Conduct resident surveys and focus groups to gather feedback and use this data to inform continuous program improvement.
- Documentation & Outcome Measurement: Maintain resident files in accordance with legal requirements and complete all documentation accurately and in a timely manner. Track and report up-to-date individual key outcomes using affordable housing case management platform ResidentConnect.
- Reporting and Grant Compliance: Assist with reports on program participation and aggregate resident outcomes for internal stakeholders and grant reporting. Ensure that all services are documented accurately, progress toward grant outcomes is pursued, and reports are prepared for funders and regulatory bodies.
Property Management Assistance:
- Relocation Assistance: Serve as a liaison among residents, Property Management, and Relocation Consultant to ensure smooth transitions among units and address any resident needs that emerge during the property rehabilitation process.
- Supporting Property Management: Educate managers on resources relevant to residents and offer technical assistance in accessing those resources/programs.
- Collaboration with Property Managers: Work with managers to support residents in maintaining housing stability. This includes coordinating eviction prevention efforts, addressing resident issues, and collaborating on community-building initiatives. Maintain positive working relationship with on-site property management, compliance, and maintenance staff.
Resident / Community Engagement and Communications:
- Communication Strategies: Use a variety of methods (e.g., newsletters, texting, flyers, outreach to partners and community groups) to ensure residents are informed about services, events, and opportunities.
- Resident Activity Calendar: Maintain an updated calendar of events and programming, distributing it regularly to residents through both physical and digital channels.
- Neighborhood Engagement: As needed, collaborate with the local community, nearby organizations and DeSales residents to support and participate in neighborhood activities such as block parties, family events, and community programs.

- Strong time management skills to maintain progress on a variety of tasks according to overlapping timelines.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with partner agencies. Collaboration on programs and on service provision to individual clients.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Experience with database management systems is beneficial.
Training and Education: Bachelor’s degree in social work, public health or a related field is preferred. 1+ years of experience in resident services, social work, or affordable housing programs. Alternatively, 5+ years of direct related experience without a degree will also be considered.
Pay: $47,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year
