Position Overview:
The Operations Technician plays a vital role in successfully executing events at the Bush Convention Center. Reporting to the Events Manager, this position is responsible for setting up, maintaining, and tearing down event spaces according to client specifications. The role requires a detail-oriented and reliable individual who can work independently and as part of a team to ensure events are prepared and executed seamlessly.
Key Responsibilities:· Event Setup and Breakdown:
o Assist in setting up rooms, ballrooms, and exhibit halls according to the client’s specifications. This includes arranging furniture, equipment, stages, and other event-related items.
o Ensure all room configurations are accurate based on event plans and diagrams, including properly placing retractable walls, tables, chairs, and audiovisual equipment.
o Break down and clean up event spaces post-event, ensuring all materials are properly stored, and areas are returned to their original condition.
· Equipment and Supply Management:
o Set up and test audiovisual equipment, lighting, and sound systems as required for events.
o Monitor and maintain event supplies such as chairs, tables, linens, and other materials. Report any shortages, damages, or maintenance needs to the Sr. Operations Technician.
o Ensure all equipment is properly stored and organized in designated areas when not in use.
· Facility Preparation:
o Perform routine inspections of event spaces before and after setup to ensure they meet safety and cleanliness standards.
o Assist with general maintenance tasks and facility readiness, including minor repairs or adjustments to furniture and equipment.
· Client Interaction & Support:
o Collaborate with the Sr. Operations Technician and Events Manager to ensure client needs are met throughout the event setup process.
o Be available during event setup to address any client or event staff concerns or last-minute changes.
· Safety & Compliance:
o Ensure compliance with all safety regulations when moving equipment, setting up event spaces, and during event operations.
o Follow established protocols for handling and storing heavy or fragile equipment.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
· 1-2 years of experience in event setup, operations, or facility maintenance, particularly in a convention center or large event venue, is preferred.
· Ability to operate essential audiovisual equipment and event setup tools.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues and clients.
· Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by event schedules.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the venue for extended periods.
· Ability to perform physical tasks for extended periods.
· Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
· Ability to move equipment as needed.
· Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments, including exposure to varying temperatures and conditions.
· Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
