Job Overview
We are seeking skilled Class 8 Fleet Mechanics to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive diagnostics and equipment repair, with hands-on experience in maintaining and servicing diesel engines. This role requires a detail-oriented individual who can work independently and as part of a team to ensure the reliability and safety of our fleet.
Responsibilities
- Perform regular maintenance checks, routine maintenance, and preventative maintenance on trucks, machinery, and equipment.
- Perform tests on specific parts and systems to ensure proper functioning.
- Consult with drivers and operators to collect information regarding mechanical problems.
- Identify problems audibly, visually, or with computer diagnostic equipment.
- Repair or replace malfunctioning parts or systems.
- Provide tire services including installation, rotation, and balancing.
- Keep accurate records both in writing and electronically.
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent mechanical repair skills including experience with diesel engines.
- The ability to work in various environments, indoors and outdoors in all-weather types.
- Must have sufficient proficiency to read and write in English and be able to keep thorough and accurate records.
- The ability to use required software and technology and basic computer skills.
- The ability to work both independently and collaborate with coworkers and internal and external teams.
- Strong analytical skills are needed to assess data, identify trends, and make informed decisions.
- Frequent standing, stretching, bending, and reaching; occasional sitting
- The ability to lift 50 pounds
Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent, additional technical or vocational training a plus
- Proven work experience as a diesel or heavy equipment mechanic
- Familiarity with Kenworth/Eaton.
- Valid driver’s license
- Must have a current DOT medical card to operate company vehicles or equipment
