PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Teaches cosmetology skills and knowledge full-time to students in grades 9-12. Instructs pupils in citizenship, basic communication skills, and other general elements of the competency-based course of study common to all teachers, as specified in state law, administrative regulations, and procedures of the school district. Develops lesson plans, maintains a plan book, and organizes class time so that preparation, instruction, shop work, and clean-up activities can be accomplished within the allotted time. Demonstrates occupational materials, equipment, tools, and processes using standard or teacher-prepared models, mock-ups, sketches, and other instructional aids in accordance with the Cosmetology competency-based task listing.
Instructs pupils in the appropriate safety precautions and the safe operation and use of the tool, machinery, and equipment. Grades and monitors student progress through the use of progress reports, report cards, and student competency lists. Communicates with employers, parents, and school counselors on individual pupil progress. Attends special education individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, where the teachers presence is required.
Provides supervision and extra help to students where needed. Attends meetings as required by the teacher contracts. Performs other duties assigned by the Superintendent-Director.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position may require long periods of standing on concrete floors, bending over customers, or working in confined spaces with exposure to dust, chemicals, and gases.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten-month, school-year position (183 days).Initial salary will be established by the Superintendent-Director in accordance with the Teachers Contract.Fringe benefits as outlined in the Teachers ContractEVALUATION: As per the Teachers Contract.
