Description:
St. Rita School in Rockford is a PreK-8th-grade school. We are seeking a reliable Substitute Teacher to help us fill gaps in our schedule. Occasionally, we will require long-term subs for extended teacher absences. Candidates are required to have a four-year degree. If the degree is not in teaching, you will need to acquire a Whiteside County Sub certificate. If the degree is in teaching, a copy of your teaching certificate is required. The ideal candidate will uphold the mission and values of Catholic education, foster a nurturing classroom environment, and deliver instruction aligned with the school's academic and spiritual goals.

KEY Responsibilities:

Provide instruction based on lesson plans prepared by the regular teacher.

Maintain classroom order and promote a positive, respectful, and faith-centered environment.

Incorporate Catholic values into interactions and classroom management.

Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times.
-
Supervise students in various settings, including the classroom, lunchroom, and outdoor recess areas.

Communicate effectively with school staff and leave a summary of the day for the returning teacher.
Requirements:

A Bachelor’s degree is required.

A Valid teaching credential or substitute permit is preferred.

Prior teaching or classroom experience preferred.

Practicing Catholic or committed to supporting the mission of Catholic education.

Ability to follow lesson plans, manage a classroom, and adapt to a range of grade levels (PreK–8).

Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

Understanding of and commitment to the teachings of the Catholic Church.

Experience working in faith-based or private school environments.

Flexibility, reliability, and a collaborative spirit.

School hours are typically from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm; however, they may vary.

Must be able to supervise and interact with young children for extended periods.

May be called on short notice depending on staffing needs.
