Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Lead Aircraft Mechanic to oversee and perform maintenance, repair, and inspection of aircraft to ensure safety, compliance, and optimal performance. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of aviation systems, manufacturing processes, and regulatory standards such as AS9100 and Federal Aviation Regulations. This leadership role requires strong technical expertise in aircraft systems, avionics, electrical and mechanical components, and fabrication techniques. The Lead Aircraft Mechanic will coordinate maintenance activities, mentor team members, and ensure adherence to safety protocols within a fast-paced aerospace environment.
Duties
- Lead and supervise aircraft maintenance teams to ensure timely and accurate repairs and inspections.
- Perform complex troubleshooting using schematics, CAD drawings, and root cause analysis techniques.
- Conduct detailed inspections of airframes, avionics, electrical systems, and power tools to identify issues.
- Utilize precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, ohmmeters, ammeters, and coordinate measuring machines for quality assurance.
- Execute fabrication tasks including sheet metal work, welding, soldering, and assembly using hand tools and heavy equipment.
- Maintain compliance with aviation standards including AS9100 and Federal Aviation Regulations.
- Oversee equipment repair activities involving power tools, hand tools, and specialized machinery like the coordinate measuring machine.
- Document maintenance activities within CMMS systems for tracking and regulatory purposes.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed during all maintenance procedures to prevent hazards related to heavy lifting or electrical work.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on schematics interpretation and modifications using AutoCAD or CAD software.
- Provide training and mentorship to junior technicians on aircraft maintenance best practices.
Experience
- Proven experience as an Aircraft Mechanic with a strong background in aviation maintenance or aerospace manufacturing.
- Extensive knowledge of aircraft systems including airframe structures, avionics, electrical wiring, power tools, and fabrication techniques.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as AS9100 and Federal Aviation Regulations is highly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with schematics interpretation, CAD software (AutoCAD), CMMS platforms, and precision measurement instruments.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in supervising maintenance teams or projects within a military or civilian aviation setting.
- Ability to perform root cause analysis for complex mechanical or electrical issues using diagnostic tools like multimeters or soldering equipment.
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with electrical experience is essential for troubleshooting diverse aircraft components.
- Experience with welding, sheet metal fabrication, assembly processes, vehicle maintenance, or heavy lifting is advantageous.
