Moore & Van Allen PLLC, a dynamic and fast-growing full-service law firm of more than 400 attorneys and professionals, is seeking a Legal Practice Assistant / Paralegal to join its Charlotte, NC office. The Legal Practice Assistant/Paralegal will provide broad-based administrative and substantive legal support to the Financial Services - Bankruptcy team. This hybrid role combines traditional legal assistant responsibilities with hands-on paralegal work, offering the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while working closely with attorneys, clients, and firm leadership.
What You'll Do:
Administrative & Practice Support
- Manage workflow and support multiple attorneys and matters.
- Draft, edit, format, and proofread legal and business documents using Microsoft Office applications.
- Coordinate attorney calendars, meetings, travel arrangements, and logistics.
- Maintain client files, matter records, and document management systems.
- Submit conflict checks and assist with matter intake and file setup.
Legal & Matter Support
- Conduct legal and factual research and analyze relevant information.
- Draft, revise, and prepare pleadings, contracts, correspondence, memoranda, and other legal documents.
- Organize documents for transactions, hearings, filings, and other legal matters.
- Assist with court filings, UCC filings, and regulatory submissions.
- Support attorneys with case development and matter strategy.
Billing & Operational Support
- Record and track billable time entries accurately.
- Assist with pre-bills, invoicing, expense reports, and billing-related processes.
- Support document routing, mail handling, and coordination with internal departments.
Client & Team Coordination
- Serve as a key point of contact for clients, attorneys, and internal stakeholders.
- Coordinate meetings and client interactions.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with ethical standards and Rules of Professional Conduct.
- Contribute to a collaborative team environment and assist with additional projects as needed.
What We’re Looking For:
Required
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3 years of administrative or law firm experience.
- Previous experience as a Legal Assistant within a law firm.
Preferred
- Paralegal Certificate.
- 3+ years of direct law firm experience.
- Experience supporting multiple attorneys and managing complex legal matters.
- Familiarity with court filings, UCC filings, and legal document management systems.
Physical Requirements:
- The work is primarily sedentary.
- It requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.
- The work requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
- The work at times requires bending, squatting, and reaching, with the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull light weights.
