Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Electrical & HVAC/Mechanical Estimator to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing project plans, calculating costs, and preparing competitive bids for commercial, industrial, and residential electrical and Mechanical (HVAC) projects.
The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) systems, proficiency with estimating software, and a proven track record of accurate cost estimation.
Key Responsibilities
- Quantity Takeoffs & Costing: Perform detailed material, labor, and equipment takeoffs from architectural, electrical, and HVAC drawings/blueprints.
- Bid Preparation: Prepare comprehensive, competitive, and profitable proposals, including labor rates, subcontractor quotes, material costs, and overhead.
- Vendor & Subcontractor Engagement: Solicit pricing from material suppliers and subcontractors; negotiate costs and evaluate quotes for scope accuracy.
- Scope & Blueprint Review: Identify scope gaps, constructability issues, and value-engineering opportunities during plan reviews.
- Site Visits: Attend pre-bid meetings and perform field site walks to assess site conditions and project constraints.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and Clients (General Contractors, Developers) to clarify project requirements via RFIs (Request for Information).
- Post-Bid Support: Assist project management teams during the hand-off phase to ensure smooth execution based on estimated costs.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Proven experience in construction estimating; specific Electrical or HVAC estimation is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and structural blueprints/specifications. Familiarity with local building codes, National Electrical Code (NEC), and mechanical standards. Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong customer service mindset.
Pay: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour
