About the Role
The Structural Welder plays a crucial role within a small, close-knit crew, reporting directly to a supervisor. Advanced Steel is hiring for the structural steel installation on the Grand Forks Children's Museum — hands-on, physically demanding fieldwork that involves performing welding operations and assembling structural components in compliance with blueprints and safety standards. Precision, teamwork, and adherence to safety protocols are essential to ensure the integrity and durability of the structure.
Responsibilities
- Execute welding operations based on blueprints and specifications
- Interpret blueprints and structural drawings to accurately assemble and erect structural steel
- Erect structural steel members as part of the building's frame
- Operate a telehandler (12,000 lb capacity) and other heavy equipment on site
- Lift and move heavy materials and equipment throughout the workday
- Maintain compliance with all safety regulations, OSHA guidelines, and company policies
- Work safely at height and in coordination with the rest of the install crew
- Assist with general structural assembly tasks within the team
Qualifications
- Welding experience and ability to interpret blueprints required
- Experience operating a telehandler (12,000 lb capacity) required; boom lift / aerial lift experience preferred
- No welding certification required — relevant hands-on experience is what matters
- OSHA 10 certification preferred — if you don't have it, we'll pay for the training
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Physical stamina, ability to lift heavy objects, and strong attention to detail
- Comfortable working at heights and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to work collaboratively within a small team
- Strong problem-solving skills and work ethic
- Reliable transportation to the job site
