Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly according to dental sterilization procedures and infection prevention management policies
- Assist dentists chairside during a variety of procedures including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry, providing four-handed dentistry support for efficiency and comfort
- Take and develop dental x-rays and 3D scans using state-of-the-art medical imaging technology while adhering to dental x-ray safety protocols and radiation safety standards
- Manage patient flow by greeting patients, updating medical records, verifying vital signs, and ensuring accurate documentation in electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix
- Educate patients on oral health care practices, post-treatment instructions, and preventive measures while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies and respecting patient privacy under HIPAA guidelines
- Support the dental team with dental instrument processing, sterilization procedures, and maintaining a clean and organized clinical environment in compliance with infection control standards
- Collaborate with the dental reception team to schedule appointments, manage patient management software, and facilitate effective communication between patients and staff
Skills
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, dental terminology, and anatomy knowledge relevant to oral health care
- Experience with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for efficient medical documentation and record keeping
- Strong understanding of infection prevention management, aseptic technique, and healthcare infection control expertise to ensure patient safety
- Knowledge of dental equipment operation including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, dental sterilization devices, and general dental tools
- Ability to perform vital signs assessment accurately and support pediatric dentistry procedures with patience and professionalism
- Familiarity with medical terminology related to dentistry and oral surgery procedures to facilitate clear communication within the team
- Excellent organizational skills for managing medical records, dental instruments processing, and maintaining clinical supplies in accordance with infection control policies
- A positive attitude with a commitment to patient care excellence in a fast-paced clinical environment focused on general dentistry and specialized fields like prosthodontics or endodontics
