About the role
We are a Huntington Beach-based peptide startup seeking a detail-oriented part-time Peptide Chemist (under 30 hours per week) focused on analytical testing and quality verification. You will be at the heart of our quality pipeline — running purity analysis, characterizing peptide batches, and ensuring our products meet rigorous specifications. Key responsibilities
- Perform purity and identity testing of peptide batches via analytical HPLC and LC-MS
- Prepare and review certificates of analysis (COAs) for finished peptide products
- Maintain and troubleshoot HPLC and mass spectrometry instruments
- Prepare buffer solutions, mobile phases, and sample preparations
- Document all testing data accurately in lab notebooks and LIMS
- Support QC investigations and out-of-spec (OOS) analyses
- Assist with developing and validating analytical test methods
- Manage reagent and reference standard inventories
Qualifications
- B.S., or higher in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field (or equivalent lab experience)
- Experience with analytical HPLC operation and data interpretation
- Familiarity with mass spectrometry (LC-MS) is a strong plus
- Knowledge of peptide structure and amino acid chemistry is preferred
- High attention to detail and commitment to accurate data recording
- Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced startup environment
Pay: $20.00 - $28.00 per hour
