The Dance Teacher is responsible for providing high-quality dance instruction while fostering students' physical, artistic, emotional, and spiritual development. The teacher integrates biblical principles into instruction, encourages creativity and excellence, and creates a safe, engaging learning environment where students can develop their God-given talents through dance. The Dance Teacher supports the mission and values of the school by modeling Christ-like character and partnering with families to nurture students academically, spiritually, and artistically.
Hours: This position averages 8 scheduled hours per week.

Instruction & Curriculum

Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate dance instruction for students in Kindergarten through 8th grade.

Teach various dance styles as appropriate, such as ballet, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, creative movement, and worship dance.

Develop lesson plans aligned with school curriculum and learning objectives.

Differentiate instruction to accommodate varying skill levels and learning needs.

Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to students and parents.
Promote proper technique, discipline, flexibility, strength, coordination, and injury prevention.

Integrate biblical values and Christian worldview into daily instruction.

Encourage students to use dance as a form of worship, creativity, and expression that glorifies God.

Performances & Events

Choreograph routines for school performances, concerts, chapel services, assemblies, and special events.

Assist with planning and coordinating fine arts showcases and performances.

Prepare students for performances through rehearsals and constructive coaching.
Collaborate with music, drama, and classroom teachers for interdisciplinary productions.

Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and performance expectations.

Collaborate with administration and fellow faculty members to support school initiatives.

Attend faculty meetings, professional development, and school events as required.
Support the overall mission and community life of the school.

Administrative Responsibilities

Manage dance equipment, costumes, and classroom supplies.

Ensure the dance space remains clean, organized, and safe.

Follow all school policies and safety procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
-
Personal relationship with Jesus Christ and agreement with the school's Statement of Faith and Code of Conduct.
-
Demonstrated commitment to Christian education and biblical integration.
-
High school diploma or equivalent.
-
Experience teaching dance to children in a classroom or studio setting.
-
Knowledge of proper dance technique and age-appropriate instruction.
-
Strong classroom management and communication skills.
-
Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, faculty, and administration.

CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain upon hire.

Ability to fulfill the physical and work requirements of the job. (See attached)

Ability to pass a criminal background check as well as educational employment history check and reference check.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Dance, Dance Education, Performing Arts, Physical Education, or a related field.

Teaching credential or certification in dance education.

Three or more years of teaching experience, preferably in a Christian or private school setting.

Experience choreographing performances for children and youth.
-
Experience leading worship dance or faith-based performance ministries.

Familiarity with child development and differentiated instruction.

Ability to teach multiple dance styles.

Experience collaborating with music, drama, or performing arts programs.

Strong organizational, planning, and event coordination skills.

Passion for mentoring students both artistically and spiritually.
