The Jackie Joyner-Kersee Foundation is seeking energetic, caring, and dependable Youth Development Professionals (YDPs) to join our Afterschool Program team.
As a YDP, you'll do more than supervise students—you'll mentor, encourage, and inspire youth through engaging educational, recreational, and enrichment activities that help prepare them to Win in Life.
Every afternoon is an opportunity to make a lasting impact.
As a Youth Development Professional, you will:
- Lead fun, engaging activities for school age youth.
- Build positive relationships with students and serve as a mentor and role model.
- Supervise students and ensure a safe, welcoming environment.
- Support homework assistance and educational enrichment.
- Lead or assist with activities in areas including but not limited to Education, Steam, Arts, Sports & Recreation
- Assist with student arrival, attendance, and dismissal.
- Monitor student during snacks and meals.
- Support special events, and enrichment activities.
- Work collaboratively with fellow staff to provide an exceptional afterschool experience.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications Required
- High school diploma or GED required
- Some college coursework or a degree preferred.
- A minimum 2 years of experience in education, childcare, recreation, coaching, mentoring, camps, youth programs, or afterschool programming.
- Passion for mentoring and working with youth.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
- Willingness to obtain: Mandated Reporter Certification and CPR/First Aid Certification

Physical Requirements
This is an active position requiring staff to:
- Walk, stand, bend, reach, and participate in activities with children.
- Lead indoor and outdoor games and enrichment activities.
- Respond quickly in emergency situations.
- Maintain an active presence throughout the program.
