LAMP is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and professional Housing Support Specialist to assist with the daily operations of our emergency shelter and support services programs. The Housing Support Specialist serves as a key member of the shelter team, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and structured environment while supporting individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
This position combines shelter oversight, resident support, crisis intervention, documentation, and program assistance to help clients move toward housing stability and self-sufficiency.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesResident Support
- Build positive, professional relationships with shelter residents.
- Conduct resident check-ins and provide basic support and encouragement.
- Assist residents in understanding and following shelter guidelines.
- Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation when necessary.
- Report resident concerns, needs, and incidents to appropriate staff.
Shelter Operations
- Monitor shelter activities to ensure safety and compliance with program rules.
- Conduct facility rounds and maintain awareness of resident activity.
- Complete resident intakes and orientations as assigned.
- Assist with bed assignments and resident movement within the shelter.
- Ensure curfew, sign-in/sign-out procedures, and daily schedules are followed.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate daily logs and shift reports.
- Document incidents, accidents, behavioral concerns, and facility issues.
- Complete required forms and reports in a timely manner.
- Communicate important information during shift transitions.
Facility Oversight
- Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
- Conduct room and common area inspections as required.
- Report maintenance and safety concerns immediately.
- Assist with meal service, donations, and special events when needed.
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with case managers, housing staff, and community partners.
- Participate in staff meetings and training opportunities.
- Support LAMP's mission and values through daily interactions with clients, volunteers, and community members.
Pay: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour
