Job Overview
We are looking for a **reliable, hardworking Part-Time Evening School Custodian** to help keep a local school clean, safe, and ready for students and staff each day. This is a great opportunity for someone who takes pride in their work, pays attention to detail, can work independently, and understands the importance of showing up on time and completing their assigned duties.
**Previous custodial or commercial cleaning experience is a plus, but we are willing to train the right dependable person.**
This is a Part Time School Custodian position with a typical work week of 15 - 20 hours. Work location is in Decatur, GA. Shift starts at 3:00 pm Monday through Friday.
Duties
- Wipe and clean all desks and tables in classrooms, cafeteria and offices daily
- Empty trash cans throughout building and replace liners as needed
- Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, buffing, scrubbing, stripping and waxing floor finish
- Vacuum and spot clean carpets, rugs and mats in offices, classrooms and other assigned areas including spot cleaning as required
- Clean and disinfect restrooms, including stalls, fixtures (i.e. toilets, urinals, faucets and sinks), mirrors and dispensers
- Restock restroom soap, paper towel and tissue dispensers and replace trash liners
- Sweep and mop stairwells
- Cleans windows, doors, light fixtures, touch points (i.e. handles / door knobs, light switches, etc.), countertops, sinks, faucets, and drinking fountains
- Secure and lock all doors, windows and gates, and sets alarm(s)
- Perform deep cleaning duties as assigned
- Report all safety, sanitary, and fire hazards to management
- Communicate and work cooperatively with site and co-workers
- Handle chemical agents safely while cleaning, adhering strictly to chemical handling safety procedures and sanitation protocols
- Ensure all cleaning supplies and equipment are stored properly and maintained in good working order
- Perform other related duties as requested
Must have the ability to:
- Pay attention to detail
- Safely use and apply cleaning agents, equipment, and materials
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physical tasks throughout the shift
- Perform minor non-technical repairs, maintenance, and adjustments to building fixtures and equipment
- Use and provide care for tools
- Work on own initiative without close supervision
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
- Pass Background Check
This Job Is Perfect for Someone Who:
- Previously performed paid custodial or janitorial experience of three (3) years minimum with knowledge of commercial cleaning techniques and equipment operation
- Can be depended on to consistently report to work for their daily work schedule
- Enjoys working independently
- Communicates effectively
- Available to work weeknight evenings Monday through Friday
- Possess excellent attention to detail with a commitment to sanitation standards and safety practices

- What size building or school have you cleaned before, and approximately how many square feet or rooms were you required to clean?
