Duties
- Greet patients warmly and professionally upon arrival, ensuring a positive first impression.
- Manage appointment scheduling using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Modmed, Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification to facilitate seamless billing processes.
- Handle patient check-in and check-out procedures efficiently while maintaining confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collect and process medical collections, co-pays, and payments accurately using secure payment systems.
- Maintain and update patient records meticulously within various EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems like Modmed.
- Answer multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette, directing calls appropriately and providing outstanding customer service.
- Support clinical staff by managing medical scheduling, appointment reminders, and follow-up communications.
- Support Biologics Coordinator with prior authorizations, educating patients on medications/plan benefits.
- Perform clerical duties such as filing, faxing, scanning documents, and managing medical records to ensure organized health information management.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding standards, and CPT coding for accurate documentation and billing.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems including Modmed, Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix, or Eaglesoft.
- Experience with medical billing processes and insurance verification procedures within Medicare or private insurance plans.
- Excellent computer skills with familiarity in Google Docs and Sheets for administrative support tasks.
- Exceptional patient service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and effective communication abilities.
- Ability to review documentation thoroughly to ensure accuracy in medical records and billing submissions.
- Bilingual capabilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Prior clinic or dental office experience is preferred to quickly adapt to our workflow.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure compliance with privacy standards at all times.
