Medical Director
Unlimited Bounds Human Services LLC (UBHS) is seeking a Medical Director to oversee day-to-day medical operations across our residential behavioral health programs. This role is responsible for assessments and evaluations, medication management, coordination of treatment planning, chart reviews, program outcomes monitoring, and program development. The Medical Director will also provide diagnosis, treatment planning, and direct treatment of patients.
Responsibilities:
- Prescribe treatments or medications to treat mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders
- Collaborate with psychotherapists, nurses, or other professionals to discuss treatment plans and progress
- Design individualized care plans using a variety of treatments
- Gather and maintain patient information and records, including social or medical history obtained from patients, relatives, or other professionals
- Review and evaluate treatment procedures and outcomes of other psychiatrists or medical professionals
- Provide consistent, ongoing training to RN and Certified Medication Technician (CMT) staff on medication administration, psychopharmacology, and safe clinical practice
- Develop and implement processes to ensure ongoing regulatory and clinical compliance across nursing and medication technician functions
- Coordinate with the management team in the training of staff on matters of psychopharmacology, assessment, and diagnosis
- Monitor RN and CMT staff performance and competency, identifying training needs and gaps in compliance
- Ensure clinical practices align with CARF accreditation standards and participate in CARF survey preparation and readiness activities
- Provide clinical oversight and sign-off for controlled substance handling, storage, and documentation protocols
- Serve as a clinical resource and on-call contact for medical emergencies or urgent psychiatric concerns within residential programs
- Supervise and provide clinical oversight to nurse practitioners, physician assistants, or other prescribing staff, as applicable
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and utilization review processes
- Liaise with external providers, hospitals, and pharmacies as needed to ensure continuity of care
- Coordinate with the management team on discharge protocols and recommendations
Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to examine, evaluate, diagnose, and treat psychiatric and mental illnesses
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Demonstrated ability to work with multidisciplinary treatment teams, ensuring development, planning, implementation, and evaluation of treatment
- Demonstrated ability to design, deliver, and evaluate ongoing training programs for RN and CMT staff, ensuring consistent compliance with clinical and regulatory standards
- Knowledge of CARF standards and accreditation requirements as they relate to medical/clinical services
- Familiarity with residential/inpatient behavioral health settings
- Understanding of Medicaid and insurance documentation requirements for psychiatric services
- Skilled in the use of technology, software, and resources to assist and aid in the course of daily medical responsibilities
- Skilled in documenting medical records and articulating and interacting with patients and others regarding clinical/administrative concerns or issues
Education and Experience:
- Medical OR Doctoral degree from an Accredited Medical Institution/or Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
- Board certified in General Psychiatry
- Current medical license for state of maryland
- Experience in a residential or inpatient behavioral health setting preferred
- Experience with electronic health records (Alleva experience a plus)
- Clinical and Private Practice expertise preferred
Pay: $125.00 - $150.00 per hour
