Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Tax & Estate Planning Attorney to join our practice. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in estate planning, trust and estate administration, gift and estate tax planning, and business succession planning. This attorney will work directly with high-net-worth individuals, families, and business owners to develop customized strategies that protect assets, minimize tax exposure, and achieve long-term legacy goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft and review estate planning documents, including wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives.
- Advise clients on federal and state estate, gift, income, and generation-skipping transfer tax matters.
- Design and implement advanced wealth transfer and asset protection strategies.
- Counsel fiduciaries on trust and estate administration matters.
- Represent clients before taxing authorities regarding estate, gift, and trust tax issues.
- Assist business owners with succession planning and ownership transitions.
- Conduct legal research and provide strategic recommendations on complex tax and estate planning issues.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through exceptional service and communication.
- Collaborate with financial advisors, accountants, and other professional advisors.
Qualifications
Required
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in Michigan.
- 3+ years of experience in tax law, estate planning, trust administration, or related practice areas.
- Strong drafting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple matters independently and efficiently.
Preferred
- LL.M. in Taxation.
- Experience working with high-net-worth clients.
- Knowledge of business succession planning and closely held business structures.
- Experience preparing or reviewing estate and gift tax returns.
- Portable book of business is a plus but not required.

Pay: $125,000.00 - $170,000.00 per year
