Responsibilities
Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Prepare treatment rooms with sterilized instruments and materials, ensuring aseptic techniques are followed meticulously. Take and develop dental X-rays and medical imaging such as 3D scans while maintaining patient comfort and safety. Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic to ensure accurate medical documentation and coding. Provide chairside assistance by handing tools, suctioning, and managing patient comfort throughout procedures. Monitor vital signs and assist with pediatric or special needs patients by applying appropriate pediatric dentistry techniques. Ensure infection control protocols are strictly followed to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff. Support the dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient flow efficiently.
Skills
Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry and chairside support. Experience with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality at all times. Familiarity with dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to dental care. Ability to operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other medical imaging tools confidently. Strong understanding of infection control practices and aseptic techniques within a dental clinic setting. Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics. Experience working in general dentistry clinics with exposure to endodontics or prosthodontics is preferred but not required.
