BMT Aerospace is a well-established and growing aerospace manufacturing machining company seeking experienced CNC Lathe Machinist with Knowledge of Haas Controls and Fanuc/ Dixie . Our clean and air conditioned facility is located in Fraser, Michigan.
The hourly range will depend on experience.
Job Description:
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CNC Lathe Machinist who can independently set up, adjust, and operate CNC lathes to produce high-quality precision components. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, quality-focused, and experienced in working with tight tolerances in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform complete setup, adjustment, and operation of CNC lathes for parts ranging from simple to complex.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and setup sheets to determine tooling, fixtures, feeds, speeds, and machining sequence.
- Utilize precision measuring instruments (micrometers, bore gauges, calipers, height gauges) to ensure parts meet specifications.
- Conduct in-process and final inspections to maintain product quality.
- Monitor tool performance and machine operation; replace tooling and make offset adjustments to maintain accuracy.
- Edit, troubleshoot, and optimize CNC programs (G/M code) as needed.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area aligned with safety standards.
- Meet or exceed production goals and deadlines.
- Collaborate with teams to resolve issues and improve processes.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Cross-train on multiple machines as needed.
- Follow company policies and safety regulations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
- 4–5+ years of CNC machining experience (lathe focus).
- Strong proficiency in full machine setup and operation.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and job orders.
- Understanding of machining principles, feeds & speeds, and cutting tools.
- Knowledge of GD&T.
- Experience with Fanuc (Oi, 21i), Haas, and Okuma controls preferred.
- Familiarity with program editing and troubleshooting.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
- Ability to work independently.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed.
