Position Summary
The Recovery Manager is responsible for overseeing and directing donor recovery operations, ensuring compliance with FDA, EBAA, and organizational protocols while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety. This role supports Recovery Team Leads, Coordinators, and Specialists through leadership, training, and resource allocation, collaborates with cross-functional teams including Donor Coordination, Clinical, Quality Assurance, Research and contributes to the organization’s mission by optimizing recovery logistics, managing departmental budgets, and driving continuous improvement in processes and procedures.
Responsibilities
· Provide overall leadership and direction for recovery operations to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks.
· Supervise Recovery Team Leads, Coordinators, and Specialists, ensuring effective team performance and development.
· Manage team schedules and readiness for recovery procedures.
· Serve as the primary point of contact for internal departments and external partners to facilitate effective recoveries.
· Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to performance reviews.
· Ensure compliance with FDA, EBAA, and other applicable regulatory standards.
· Oversee adherence to clinical and regulatory guidelines during recovery procedures.
· Lead audits and quality reviews of recovery processes.
· Maintain sterile technique and uphold high standards of safety throughout all procedures.
· Respond to donor notifications and plan for timely recoveries.
· Confirm consent documentation and Donor Risk Assessment information.
· Oversee surgical recovery of corneal tissue using in-situ and enucleation techniques.
· Ensure proper labeling, packaging, and transport of tissue and specimens per SOPs.
· Oversee shipment of donor blood samples to reference laboratories.
· Ensure accurate data entry into approved databases.
· Maintain accurate documentation and reporting of recovery activities.
· Ensure compliance with record-keeping standards for regulatory and operational transparency.
· Manage inventory and equipment used in recovery operations.
· Ensure laboratory equipment and work areas are maintained in compliance with SOPs.
· Support staff development through training, mentoring, and feedback.
· Participate in team meetings and training sessions.
· Assist in onboarding and competency development for new staff.
· Respond to operational challenges and lead process improvement initiatives.
· Assist in development and validation of new clinical processes and procedures.
· Develop and manage departmental budgets, ensuring cost-effective operations and resource allocation.
· Lead creation and updates of SOPs and best practices for recovery operations.
· Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
· Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience, including supervisory or leadership responsibilities and a bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
· Proven ability to lead teams, manage performance, and achieve departmental objectives.
· Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
· Demonstrated experience managing budgets, timelines, and operational processes.
· Excellent communication, coaching, and collaboration skills across multiple levels of the organization.
· Ability to make informed decisions and adapt to change in a fast-paced environment.
· Proficiency with office and departmental software, reporting tools, and information systems.
· High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
· Position will require evening, weekend, or holiday work based on organizational needs.
· Valid drivers license and proof of insurance.
Physical Demands
· Must be able to perform duties that require standing, walking, bending, lifting, and reaching.
· Occasional lifting of materials or supplies up to 25 lbs.
· Requires manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and visual acuity to perform detailed tasks and operate equipment.
· Must be able to work in varied environments such as hospitals, surgical suites, laboratories, or other field settings.
· Requires ability to sit or stand for extended periods and to drive for work-related travel.
· Must be able to use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by organizational and regulatory standards.
· Position will require evening, weekend, or holiday work based on organizational needs.
· Ability to respond to job-related demands during irregular hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as assigned.
· Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in person, by phone, and through digital platforms.
Pay: From $70,000.00 per year
