The Youth Apprentice - Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assistance in providing pharmacy services, including, but not limited to dispensing and preparing pharmaceuticals, performing inventory control, compliance audits, and financial transactions, providing customer service, and maintaining pharmacy records. The Youth Apprentice role is designed to utilize and extend knowledge and competency while performing technical pharmacy functions.
Education:
· High school junior or senior, 17+ years old, on track to graduate. Completion of at least two health science courses.
Licenses and Certifications:
· All candidates hired into this role must apply for registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the WI Dept of Safety and Professional Services and provide proof of application to Human Resources prior to their start date. Registration must be maintained by the employee and proof of registration submitted to supervisor at time of renewal.

· Ability to mathematically compute and convert drug concentrations and doses
· Excellent computer skills, and proficient use Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
· Ability to learn, utilize, maintain, troubleshoot all pharmacy IT systems, including but not limited to: Electronic Health Record, Pharmacy Information System, Wisconsin Immunization Registry, Pharmaceutical ordering/returns eMAR, IV Pumps, IV Workflow Management Software, Automated dispensing Cabinets, and Medication ordering/returns.
· Ability to use computer for order entry, inventory control, billing, and record keeping.
· Takes ongoing ownership for service, quality and organization for one area of the pharmacy department as directed by manager
· Ability to function with minimal supervision, act independently, and demonstrate initiative
· Ability to interact with and work around people and to work effectively in a team environment. Ability to maintain a positive and helpful style of interaction with patients and with individuals at all levels of hospital and medical staff.
· Ability to make decisions, act, and maintain self-control under stressful situations and workload pressures.
· Excellent written/verbal communication skills and ability to listen empathetically.
· Effective time and task management, prioritizing work appropriately, focusing on multiple tasks simultaneously, and organizational skill
· Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve
· Safeguard and maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of patient, employee, and organizational information
