Job Summary-
The Fiber Optic Systems Engineer is required to provide design, engineering, modeling, and creative support for new projects and new technologies. This role requires an understanding of data center infrastructure design and operations, passive panel and optical interconnects, optical splice enclosures, fiber optic cabling systems, and network design principles.
Duties/ Responsibilities:
- Proficiency in hands-on fiber optic cables/connectors testing and certification (load/tension, splicing, optical power, insertion loss, return loss, OTDR, etc.).
- Develop network diagrams.
- Support a smooth transition as a project passes from the design and engineering phase to the build phase.
- Provide advice, assistance and support to estimators, engineers, project managers and other company employees when needed.
- Always support existing or potential customers with professionalism in all situations.
- Provide guidance to junior team members.
Requirements:
- 5+ years experience in the Fiber Optic Field.
- 3+ years experience with FTTH / FTTA / OSP cabling.
- 3+ years experience in facility engineering and architectural design.
- Strong understanding of fiber optic technologies, including single-mode and multi-mode fibers, connectors, and transceivers, design standards, and regulations.
- Proficiency in hands-on fiber optic cables/connectors testing and certification (load/tension, splicing, optical power, insertion loss, return loss, OTDR etc.).
- Fiber Optic field/ installation experience a plus.
- Supervisory experience a plus.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience.
