EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
What You'll Do
As an Instrumentation & Controls Specialist, you will:

Program, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair SCADA systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), industrial networks, and associated hardware.

Configure and maintain industrial communication networks, servers, historical databases, and remote communications equipment.

Support the City's Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), including programming water meters and maintaining system records.

Administer security camera, door access, and video surveillance systems by managing user accounts, programming access permissions, and maintaining system configurations.

Interpret electrical drawings, network diagrams, and technical documentation.

Research and recommend improvements to industrial control systems and communication technologies.

Participate in emergency response activities and provide after-hours technical support as needed.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Work Environment
Work is primarily performed in a municipal wastewater and water treatment plant environment, pump stations, CSP Basins, Lift Stations, and Water Towers with exposure to industrial chemicals, confined spaces, manhole entry, slippery or uneven surfaces, bloodborne pathogens, airborne particles, and risk of electrical shock. Some work performed in varying field conditions with exposure to variable weather conditions, and moderate noise level.
Physical Demands

Occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force.

Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and climbing stairs, reaching with hands and arms, gross manipulation, fine manipulation using hands and fingers to use a computer keyboard and operate a computer mouse.

Occasional climbing ladders, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.

Must be able to see and hear in the normal range with or without accommodation.

Ability to identify and distinguish colors.

Employees must be able to communicate clearly, accurately.
