Position Summary
Support the Calcine Disposition Project by providing scientific and technical support, preparing regulatory documentation, and evaluating environmental and engineering data to support DOE project objectives.
This role works with project managers, engineers, scientists, DOE, and regulatory agencies to develop technical documents and support environmental compliance activities.
Responsibilities
- Develop technical reports, engineering design files, annual reports, and conceptual site models
- Evaluate scientific and engineering data to develop conclusions, recommendations, and technical solutions
- Prepare documentation supporting DOE Orders, including DOE O 435.1 and DOE O 413.3B
- Support environmental compliance activities related to CERCLA and RCRA
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, technical staff, and regulatory stakeholders
- Address DOE and agency comments on project documentation
- Participate in technical meetings, document reviews, and project planning activities
- Support development of project scope, schedules, and budgets
- Provide technical support for design testing, operations, field activities, and other project assignments
- Ensure work is completed in accordance with applicable standards, regulations, and company procedures
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in scientific or engineering disciplines related to environmental projects
Experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Site characterization and remediation
- Environmental compliance
- Radiological analysis
- Dose and risk assessments
- Multi-media transport modeling
- Disposal site performance assessments
- Facility design, construction, or closure
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting DOE projects or working at a DOE facility
- Knowledge of DOE Orders and requirements
- Experience with DOE O 435.1
- Experience with DOE O 413.3B
- Experience with CERCLA and RCRA requirements
- Experience preparing technical and regulatory documentation
- Experience working with DOE, EPA, state agencies, Tribal Nations, and other stakeholders
