Duties
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using proper manual handling techniques and patient transfer methods like Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes to healthcare professionals promptly.
- Support medication administration in accordance with care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs and assist residents with meal consumption to promote proper nutrition.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and ensuring infection control protocols are followed.
- Provide companionship and engage residents in meaningful activities to enhance mental well-being, including memory care and dementia support.
- Assist with transportation needs for appointments or community outings, ensuring safety during transfers and personal transportation assistance.
Requirements
- Proven experience working with individuals with disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, or in senior care environments such as group homes, assisted living facilities, or nursing homes.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, care plans, medication administration, and patient monitoring.
- Certifications in First Aid and CPR are required; additional qualifications such as Hoyer lift training or manual handling certification are preferred.
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and assist with patient transfer methods while maintaining compliance with safety standards.
- Experience working with individuals with autism, intellectual disabilities, or dementia is highly desirable.
