SUMMARY
The Mechanical Quality Inspector I use basic metrology equipment to verify that parts meet drawings and specifications. Responsibilities also include writing nonconformance reports, process transactions in the ERP system, and performing visual inspections.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Keep work area organized and clean

Follows visual management rules
-
Completes paper inspection records, electronic records, and other relevant process steps

Basic understanding of relevant QMS documents
-
Able to read mechanical drawings to determine nominal dimensions and tolerances
-
Able to accurately use the following inspection equipment: caliper, standard tolerance, and tight tolerance (Deltronic) gauge pin, thread gage, and angle gage

Evaluate cosmetic flaws and accurately to determine conformance of parts
-
Can write basic nonconforming reports. Consults higher level inspectors before finalizing the report

Laser micrometer for tight tolerance pin calibration

Operate Keyence Optical system
Requirements:
REQUIRED
-
HS Diploma or equivalent
-
Technical background or aptitude
-
Minimum of 1 year of experience as a CNC or CMM Operator
DESIRED
-
Associates or bachelor’s degree preferred
-
Knowledge of GD&T drawing callouts (know the symbols and what they mean
-
Can operate one type of automated test equipment (Mitutoyo CMM, Zeiss CMM, or Amada Fabrivision)

Able to accurately use the profilometer

Able to accurately use a drop gage

Be open to constructive feedback from senior inspectors and leaders
