Calhoun County Schools
Qualifications:
- Valid Alabama Teaching Certificate with Certification in School Counseling or Preliminary Certificate
- 3 years classroom teaching experience preferred
- Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama Statutes and State Board of Education regulations
- Valid Alabama Driver's License
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
- Demonstration and record of sound moral character
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develops, implements, evaluates, and revises an annual school guidance and counseling plan in accordance with standards set forth by the State Plan and corresponds with the local system plan.
- Guides, consults with, and counsels groups and individual students through the development of personal, social, educational and career plans.
- Consults and collaborates with teachers, nurses, staff and parent in the understanding and meeting the needs of students.
- Works with the administration to set schedules for teachers and students.
- Refers at-risk students and their parents/guardians to appropriate specialists, special programs, or provides information about outside agencies.
- Participates in activities that contribute to the effective operation of the school, which includes but is not limited to; serving as the building test coordinator; giving analysis and interpretation of test results to provide information about educational, career tech, and personal/social needs; provide orientation for new students, parent/guardians, and faculty.
- Pursue professional growth
- Establishes and maintains effective, professional relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and community members.
- Abides by the Alabama Educator Code of Ethics.
- Coach and/or sponsor athletics/extra-curricular activities.
Other duties as assigned.

Length of Contract/Terms:
This position will be subject to the Students First Act of 2011. Calhoun County Schools reserves the right to fill this position by transfer of a qualified applicant who is already employed by the Calhoun County School System.
Under the Students First Act of 2011, no credit toward tenure or non-probationary status is earned in the initial school year of employment if the date of hire occurs after September 30.
