We are looking for an enthusiastic Software Engineer to join our Developer Productivity team in either Palo Alto or Atlanta. In this role, you will own the day-to-day operational support and "Keeping the Lights On" (KTLO) activities that keep our self-driving vehicle engineers moving fast. Working closely with senior talent, you will maintain our build systems, troubleshoot tooling issues, and ensure maximum uptime for our development pipelines. This is a high-leverage role where your daily execution directly enables the Autonomy team to rapidly iterate, innovate, and safely deliver autonomous technology.
-
Maintain Engineering Velocity: Own day-to-day tactical operations, resolving routine developer productivity tickets, build failures, and tooling requests to ensure smooth daily workflows.
-
Support Strategic Initiatives: Assist senior engineers with the execution of core infrastructure projects, including Bazel integrations, repository migrations, and build system updates.
-
On-the-Ground Developer Support: Serve as a responsive, empathetic point of contact for autonomy engineers (Perception, Planning, etc.), actively unblocking their local environment and pipeline issues.
-
Monitor & Optimize Pipelines: Help monitor CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure health, identifying and escalating systemic bottlenecks to senior team members.
-
Adopt Cutting-Edge Workflows: Learn to leverage and champion internal AI tools and advanced automation to continuously optimize your own operational workflows.
-
Education: Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
-
Experience: 0–2 years of experience in software engineering, infrastructure support, or a DevOps-focused internship/co-op.
-
Core Coding: Foundational programming proficiency in at least one language (e.g., Python, C++, Go, or Java).
-
Build System Awareness: Familiarity with or a strong desire to master complex build systems (e.g., Bazel, SCons).
-
CI/CD Basics: Understanding of continuous integration/continuous deployment concepts and exposure to
GitLab CI or GitHub Actions. -
Environment Skills: Basic comfort working in Linux environments, with hands-on experience or exposure to containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes (k8s).
-
Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills, a proactive attitude toward learning, and strong communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
-
A general conceptual understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles.
-
A genuine passion for autonomous driving technology, robotics, or complex systems infrastructure.
