Job Description
Through the Vale Visitation & Family Services is seeking a dependable, professional, and compassionate Supervised Visitation Monitor to join our growing team.
This is currently a part-time position for Fridays from approximately 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with the opportunity for additional days and hours in the future as our caseload continues to grow.
The Secondary Monitor will assist with court-ordered and agency-referred supervised visitation services involving children and their parents or other family members. This position requires someone who is comfortable working with families experiencing separation, custody disputes, dependency proceedings, and other challenging circumstances while remaining professional, neutral, and child-focused.
The ideal candidate is observant, calm under pressure, reliable, and able to maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the supervision of parent-child visitation in accordance with court orders, agency requirements, and company policies
- Maintain continuous visual and auditory supervision when assigned to a visit
- Observe and objectively document relevant events, behaviors, interactions, and direct statements
- Assist the primary monitor with maintaining a safe and structured visitation environment
- Provide appropriate redirection when visitation rules or safety expectations are not being followed
- Maintain neutrality and professional boundaries with all parties
- Assist with child transitions, arrivals, and departures when needed
- Follow confidentiality requirements and company documentation procedures
- Communicate promptly with the primary monitor regarding safety concerns, rule violations, or significant incidents
- Complete required notes or documentation accurately and within established timelines
- Maintain a calm and professional demeanor during emotionally challenging situations
Qualifications
Required:
- Must be at least 21 years old
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Reliable transportation and consistent Friday availability
- Ability to remain neutral when working with parents involved in custody or dependency matters
- Strong observation and written communication skills
- Ability to establish and maintain professional boundaries
- Comfortable working with children of varying ages
- Ability to remain calm and use good judgment during conflict or emotionally charged situations
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Willingness to complete required training and background screening
Preferred:
- Associate's or bachelor's degree, or coursework, in social work, psychology, child development, education, criminal justice, human services, or a related field
- Experience working with children and families
- Experience in supervised visitation, social services, behavioral health, education, childcare, family services, dependency, or family court settings
- Familiarity with trauma-informed and child-centered practices
- Strong objective documentation skills
Schedule
Current regular schedule:
Fridays: approximately 3:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m.
Approximately 6 hours per week to start.
Additional weekday, evening, or weekend hours may become available as the agency grows. Candidates interested in eventually taking on additional hours are encouraged to apply.
Compensation
$22.00–$30.00 per hour, depending on education, training, and relevant experience.
