We are seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager (GM) to lead daily operations, manage staff, and drive business growth while maintaining strict compliance with New Jersey cannabis regulations.
Position Summary:
The General Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of dispensary operations, including sales performance, staff management, inventory control, compliance, customer experience, and community engagement. This role requires strong leadership, excellent organizational skills, and in-depth knowledge of the cannabis industry or similar regulated environments.
Key Responsibilities:Operations Management
- Oversee daily operations of the dispensary ensuring efficiency and compliance.
- Monitor and manage product inventory, ordering, and vendor relationships.
- Maintain all operational protocols and ensure adherence to NJ Cannabis Regulatory Commission (CRC) regulations.
- Oversee facility cleanliness, safety, and functionality.
Team Leadership & HR
- Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and manage dispensary staff.
- Foster a positive, performance-driven culture and provide mentorship and evaluations.
- Handle conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and team development.
Customer Service & Sales
- Ensure a premium and educational customer experience.
- Monitor and analyze sales data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Implement sales strategies and promotions in line with company goals.
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure full compliance with state and local laws regarding cannabis sales, storage, and security.
- Maintain accurate records for audits and regulatory inspections.
- File required reports with state agencies on time and accurately.
Financial Oversight
- Oversee budgeting, financial reporting, and cash handling procedures.
- Work with accounting team to manage payroll, vendor payments, and profit margins.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years experience in retail management, preferably in cannabis, pharmaceuticals, or a regulated industry.
- Proven leadership and team management experience.
- Strong understanding of New Jersey cannabis regulations (CRC compliance preferred).
- Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Must be 21 years of age or older and able to pass all required background checks.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a licensed cannabis dispensary.
- Knowledge of POS systems such as Dutchie, or similar.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, or related field.
