Job Overview
The Dive Shop Reservationist & Attendant is the first point of contact for guests interested in scuba diving, snorkeling, and other water-based excursions. This role involves handling reservations, providing accurate information about dive packages and certifications, assisting with retail sales, and supporting general dive shop operations. The ideal candidate is personable, organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about the ocean and marine experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
Reservations & Customer Service:
Greet and assist walk-in guests, phone callers, and online inquiries in a courteous and professional manner.
Book dive trips, snorkeling tours, equipment rentals, and certification courses using scheduling software or manual systems.
Confirm and manage daily dive rosters, guest waivers, and medical clearance forms.
Provide guests with pre-trip information, safety requirements, and cancellation policies.
Handle customer concerns and communicate special needs or requests to dive staff.
Retail & Sales:
Promote and sell dive-related merchandise, apparel, and accessories.
Maintain retail displays, restock items, and ensure the shop is clean and organized.
Process transactions using POS systems and accurately handle cash, credit card, and electronic payments.
Operational Support:
Coordinate with dive instructors, captains, and crew to ensure smooth trip logistics.
Assist with basic gear organization, tank logging, and preparing equipment for trips.
Monitor inventory levels for gear and retail items and report shortages or maintenance needs.
Qualifications & Skills:
Previous experience in reservations, hospitality, or customer service preferred.
Familiarity with scuba diving or water sports strongly preferred.
Excellent communication skills in English (additional languages are a plus).
Proficient in computer systems, email, and POS software.
Friendly, calm under pressure, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of dive operations, PADI/SSI programs, or marine tourism is an advantage.
Work Environment:
Dive shop setting near water
May require weekend, holiday, and early morning/late evening shifts.
Occasional lifting of dive equipment or gear (up to 40 lbs) may be required.
Uniform or branded attire may be provided or required.
