The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to animals while assisting veterinarians in various clinical and administrative tasks.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our team.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures.
- Perform animal restraint techniques to ensure the safety of both animals and staff.
- Conduct laboratory tests, including blood work and urinalysis, and interpret results.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient.
- Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians.
- Provide education to pet owners on proper animal care and husbandry practices.
- Handle and care for a variety of animals, including dogs, cats, and equine species.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the clinic or hospital environment.
- Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians during exams, treatments, and procedures
- Prepare and clean exam rooms and equipment
- Handle and restrain a variety of animal species (small animals, large animals, exotics)
- Answer phones and schedule appointments
- Support clients with excellent communication and care
Experience
Candidates should possess experience or knowledge in the following areas:
- Animal restraint techniques
- Dental terminology related to veterinary practices
- Laboratory procedures relevant to veterinary medicine
- Proficient animal handling skills, particularly with dogs and other domestic animals
- Familiarity with veterinary practices
- Understanding of animal husbandry principles
- Basic knowledge of animal physiology
