Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing and serving nutritious meals
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently while adhering to food safety standards and sanitation protocols
- Support food handling, portioning, and presentation to ensure high-quality service
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, dining spaces, and food service equipment through regular cleaning and sanitation practices
- Assist with cooking and serving students
- Follow safe lifting practices when handling heavy items or supplies to prevent injuries
- Adhere strictly to workplace safety guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and manual handling procedures
Qualifications
- Previous experience in Food Service is highly preferred
- Knowledge of food production, preparation, and serving techniques
- Familiarity with dietary department procedures
- Strong time management skills to prioritize tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and follow sanitation standards diligently
- Basic math skills for portioning and inventory management
- Excellent customer service skills with a compassionate approach toward working with children
- Food handling certification is advantageous
- Knowledge of food safety regulations
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely while maintaining proper posture during meal prep or supply handling
