We are seeking a passionate and energetic Building Paraprofessional to join our team. In this vital role, you will support classroom teachers and assist in creating a nurturing environment for students with diverse needs. Your enthusiasm and dedication will help foster positive learning experiences for children across various educational settings.
Responsibilities
- Assist in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and support students with disabilities, including those with autism and developmental disabilities
- Support classroom management by maintaining a safe, organized, and engaging environment for children of different age groups, including preschoolers and toddlers
- Collaborate with teachers to develop and execute lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, including literacy, math, and early childhood education
- Use effective communication skills to interact with students, staff, and families, including proficiency in American Sign Language when applicable
- Support behavior management strategies to promote positive social interactions and emotional well-being among students
- Assist with classroom activities such as lesson planning, curriculum development, and literacy or math instruction
- Provide childcare support during school hours, ensuring the safety and well-being of all children
Skills
- Experience working with children in early childhood
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and classroom management techniques
- Familiarity with special education practices, IEP implementation, and behavior management strategies
- Ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with teachers, parents, and students effectively
- Proficiency in teaching methods related to literacy education, math instruction, and curriculum development
- Experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities or require specialized support such as deaf education or Toddler care
