JOB
PURPOSE: The position of Park Facilities/Grounds Generalist performs related duties in the maintenance and improvement of grounds and facilities, including operation of equipment. Provides miscellaneous support services for recreation programs, activities and events. This position performs customer service, semi-skilled and manual work. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Performs turf maintenance functions, including general mowing and trimming, weeding, watering, aeration, top dressing, leaf raking and removal, seeding, sodding, and general clean-up for parks, roadsides, parkways, and boulevards.

Performs general buildings and grounds care, including maintenance, cleaning, refuse collection, painting, snow removal, and salting on roads, lots and paths.

Performs preventative maintenance of park vehicles and equipment.

Performs maintenance, and preparation on various athletic and recreation facilities, including ball diamonds, soccer fields, tennis courts, ice rinks, trails.

Provides miscellaneous and park maintenance function support services for recreation programs, special events, picnics as assigned.
- Operates various pieces of motorized equipment, trucks, and tools related to assigned duties.

Subject to call for emergency work and extra overtime hours may be required during the week, weekends, and holidays.

Promotes and maintains positive departmental public relations with other City departments, staff and the community in general.

Responds or refers complaints concerning the operation and maintenance of City parks to the Parks and Forestry Superintendent.

Provides oversight of summer or seasonal staff and assists other employees as assigned.
