Accounting Manager
Location: Sioux City, IA
Position Summary
The Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring accounting policies and procedures comply with professional standards and all applicable state and federal regulations. This role maintains the company's financial infrastructure through internal controls, prepares financial reporting, analyzes financial performance, and identifies potential risks for senior management. The position also oversees budgeting support, fixed assets, payroll assistance, and various accounting functions while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Management
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial and company information.
- Prepare and post general ledger journal entries.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including:
- Balance Sheet
- Profit & Loss Statement
- Cash Flow Statement
- Prepare financial analyses and tax asset reports.
- Prepare monthly depreciation schedules.
- Generate month-end reports for:
- Sales
- Accounts Payable
- Accounts Receivable
- Inventory
- Production
- Analyze weekly sales, inventory, purchasing, and payroll reports.
- Reconcile all bank accounts monthly.
- Manage fixed assets and depreciation schedules.
- Assist Division President with profit & loss analysis and investment account reporting.
- Compile information for the annual operating budget.
- Prepare documentation for annual audits and third-party accounting firms.
- Administer Deferred Compensation accounts and communicate with participants regarding investments.
- Prepare annual 1099 forms for contract labor.
- Process ACH payments and Accounts Payable checks.
- Process employee expense reimbursements.
- Manage company contracts and business licenses.
- Compile information for company liability insurance renewals and provide recommendations.
- Assist with payroll processing as needed.
- Support Shipping & Receiving functions as necessary.
- Assist the Division President with special projects and financial analysis.
General Responsibilities
- Develop product knowledge and understanding of company markets.
- Continuously seek process improvements and cost-saving opportunities.
- Complete special projects and additional duties assigned by management.
- Assist the Human Resources department as needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Follow company policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
- Maintain professional communication with employees, supervisors, vendors, and outside contacts.
- Report to work on a regular Monday-Friday schedule.
Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Experience
-
Three (3) or more years of accounting or finance experience preferred.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks or Peachtree preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and in writing.
- Ability to review and analyze printed and electronic financial information.

- Office environment.
