Description
Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District (THPRD) is looking for people to join our Safety Services team. Safety Services staff are committed to public service by creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for our community to gather and recreate.
The ideal candidate has experience in a public safety role focused on customer education and helping people comply with organizational rules. Applicants should have experience working with diverse communities, including lived experiences, or bring a unique background that adds a fresh perspective to the team. Strong customer service skills and an eagerness to work in the diverse Beaverton-area community are essential.
A typical day in Safety Services involves serving as a district ambassador and applying a diversity, equity, inclusion, and all-access lens to daily decisions. Staff are an approachable presence in parks and facilities, providing information and educating patrons about rules, regulations, and laws that help make parks and facilities safe and enjoyable. Safety Services staff also collaborate with local law enforcement partners to address safety concerns and support community safety.

Schedule
Shifts are 7:00 AM–4:00 PM or 3:30 PM–12:30 AM, with approximately 29 hours per week.
Part-time staff may work up to 1,560 hours per year.
Pay
$29.76 per hour
The hiring rate for this position is $29.76 per hour. The full hourly range for this job classification is $29.76 to $33.56 per hour. Staff may be eligible for a merit increase at the end of September.
Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years of age
-
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required
-
Current First Aid/CPR certification, or ability to obtain upon hire
-
Oregon DPSST Private Security Professional (Unarmed) certification, or ability to obtain upon hire
-
Willingness to work outdoors in all types of weather
Experience & Training
Any combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
Preferred qualifications include:

Experience, education, or training related to security work, public service, or public communication/education

Relevant specialized training or coursework

Bilingual and multilingual skills; THPRD offers a 5% pay incentive for staff who utilize these skills at work
