POSITION: Physical Therapist
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Special Programs Director
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
EMPLOYMENT TERM: Minimum 200 days annually, pursuant to WV Code §18-5-45; extended employment terms may be established by the Hancock County Board of Education
SALARY: In accordance with the Hancock County Schools salary schedule for professionals, commensurate with experience and degree level.
EVALUATION: Performance in this position will be evaluated annually by the Superintendent or her designee and in accordance with WV State Code § l SA-2-12, State Board Policy 5310.
JOB SUMMARY:
Provide assessment, planning, and delivery of physical therapy services as a related service within the academic setting to support students' access to educational programs and promote functional mobility and independence.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide assessment of students including gross motor skills, posture, mobility, and strength.
Interpret evaluations to parents and school staff.
Contribute to IEP development and educational planning.
Develop goals and collaborate with staff to support student access.
Determine need for continuation or dismissal of services.
Implement therapy plans and interventions.
Provide training for staff and families.
Recommend adaptive equipment and environmental modifications.
Collaborate with educational teams and related service providers.
Maintain accurate documentation and progress data.
Communicate with outside agencies as needed.
Maintain professional standards and participate in ongoing development.
Submit Medicaid billing documentation as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to communicate effectively; lifting, positioning, and assisting students; travel between schools required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduate of an accredited physical therapy program
Licensed or eligible for licensure in West Virginia
Experience with pediatric or school-based services preferred
Knowledge of assistive technology and adaptive equipment
Effective communication and collaboration skills
Must pass required background checks
