Join our dynamic healthcare team as a PRN Home Infusion Nurse, where you will play a vital role in delivering personalized, high-quality infusion therapy services directly to patients in their homes. As a PRN (pro re nata, or as-needed) nurse, you will provide expert nursing care, education, and support for individuals receiving complex infusion treatments, ensuring safety, comfort, and optimal health outcomes. Duties
- Administer intravenous (IV) infusions, medications, and therapies following physician orders with precision and adherence to aseptic techniques.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and evaluation of infusion sites to monitor for adverse reactions or complications.
- Educate patients and caregivers on infusion procedures, medication management, infection control practices, and safety protocols to promote confidence and compliance.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans tailored to each patient’s needs.
- Troubleshoot infusion-related issues including catheter care, ventilator support if applicable, and managing acute pain or allergic reactions promptly.
- Provide exceptional patient care in diverse settings including assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or private residences while adhering to infection control standards.
Requirements
- Valid RN (Registered Nurse) license with current state licensure; additional certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS) are required.
- Proven experience in home care or infusion therapy is highly preferred; critical care experience including ICU or emergency room background is advantageous.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner for accurate documentation and communication.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, and pharmacology related to infusion therapy and complex medication administration.
- Strong assessment skills with the ability to recognize signs of complications such as infection or allergic reactions swiftly.
- Ability to work independently with excellent time management skills; flexibility to adapt to varying patient needs on an as-needed basis.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or chronic conditions such as Geriatrics, Memory Care, or Long-term Care environments is beneficial.
