Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and safety-conscious Commercial Driver's License (CDL) A Local Container Driver to join our dynamic team. In this roll you will transport containers from local port to customer by means of drop and hook. No force dispatch with a minimum weekly net truck requirement. Your expertise in commercial truck driving, adherence to safety protocols, and excellent customer service skills will ensure smooth operations and satisfied clients. Duties
- Safely operate a CMV while transporting containers in compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and traffic laws.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and proper functioning of air brakes and other mechanical systems.
- Drop and hook containers.
- Effectively communicate with dispatch to assign loads.
- Follow designated routes for route driving, ensuring timely pickups and deliveries while adhering to traffic laws and safety protocols.
- Properly complete daily paperwork requirements.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating professionally with clients during pickups and drop-offs, addressing concerns promptly.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, load & unload activities, vehicle maintenance needs, and incident reports in compliance with DOT standards.
- Pass monthly safety and maintenance inspection.
Requirements
- Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record.
- Mechanical knowledge of truck systems including air brakes and basic troubleshooting skills.
- Drop and hook containers.
- Effectively communicate with dispatch to assign loads.
- Familiarity with traffic laws, hazardous materials regulations, and safety protocol adherence essential for outdoor work environments.
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a focus on route driving within local areas.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
