Pravada is a private label cosmetic manufacturing company located in Fort Myers, Florida. We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Controller to lead our accounting operations, strengthen financial reporting, and provide ownership with clear visibility into the financial health of the business.
This is an on-site leadership role for someone who enjoys both the details of accounting and the broader responsibility of helping a growing manufacturing business make better financial decisions.
The ideal candidate has strong accounting fundamentals, experience with month-end close and account reconciliations, and the ability to bring structure, accuracy, and accountability to a fast-moving entrepreneurial environment. Manufacturing, inventory, or product-based business experience is strongly preferred.
What You’ll Do
As Controller, you will oversee daily accounting operations, manage a small accounting team, own the monthly close process, and ensure the company’s financial statements are accurate, timely, and useful.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
- Preparing and reviewing financial statements, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting.
- Managing account reconciliations for bank accounts, credit cards, inventory, AP, AR, payroll liabilities, accrued expenses, prepaid expenses, loans, sales tax, fixed assets, and other balance sheet accounts.
- Ensuring all balance sheet accounts are accurate, supported, and reconciled on a consistent schedule.
- Overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, collections, cash application, and vendor payments.
- Monitoring cash flow and providing ownership with regular visibility into cash position, upcoming obligations, and working capital needs.
- Partnering with operations and purchasing to improve inventory accuracy, cost visibility, and margin reporting.
- Supporting inventory accounting for raw materials, packaging, work-in-process, and finished goods.
- Reviewing cost of goods sold, gross margin, inventory adjustments, scrap, shrinkage, and obsolete inventory.
- Preparing management dashboards, variance reports, and financial analysis for leadership.
- Leading budgeting, forecasting, and budget-to-actual reporting.
- Coordinating with the external accounting firm on tax preparation, audits, year-end reporting, and advisory matters.
- Establishing and improving accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Supervising and developing accounting team members.
- Supporting system improvements, automation, and potential ERP transition projects.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for a Controller who is accurate, practical, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership of the accounting function.
The right candidate will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- 2+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial statement preparation.
- Experience owning month-end close and account reconciliations.
- Strong general ledger, AP, AR, payroll accounting, accrual, and journal entry experience.
- Experience preparing financial reports and explaining results to business owners or executive leadership.
- Strong Excel and accounting system skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational habits.
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly and practically.
- Comfort working on-site in Fort Myers, FL.
Preferred Experience
The following experience is highly valued:
- CPA, CMA, or MBA.
- Manufacturing, inventory, consumer products, private label, or product-based business experience.
- Inventory accounting, cost accounting, COGS, and gross margin analysis.
- Experience with physical inventory, cycle counts, inventory adjustments, or inventory reconciliation.
- Experience moving a company from QuickBooks to a more advanced ERP or accounting system.
- Experience with systems such as NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Acumatica, Microsoft Dynamics, Odoo, Fishbowl, or similar platforms.
- Experience improving internal controls, accounting processes, and reporting in a growing company.
- Comfortable using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, or similar tools to improve efficiency, analysis, reporting, and documentation.
Who Will Thrive in This Role
You will do well in this position if you:
- Like being close to the business, not just behind the numbers.
- Are comfortable working in a growing entrepreneurial company where structure is still being built.
- Take pride in clean reconciliations, accurate reporting, and reliable financial data.
- Can move between detailed accounting work and big-picture financial analysis.
- Communicate clearly and directly.
- Are proactive about identifying problems and recommending solutions.
- Understand that inventory, cash flow, margins, and controls are critical in a manufacturing business.
- Have an ownership mindset and treat the company’s financial health seriously.
