We are seeking a talented and motivated Sous Chef to join our Culinary Services team. This leadership role is ideal for a culinary professional who is passionate about food quality, team development, and creating exceptional dining experiences for residents and guests. Working alongside the Executive Chef, you will help lead kitchen operations, support culinary staff, and ensure the highest standards of food preparation, presentation, and service.
Assist in overseeing daily kitchen operations
Lead kitchen staff during assigned shifts and in the Executive Chef's absence
Support training, coaching, and development of culinary team members
Promote a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and food quality
Prepare and oversee hot and cold menu items according to established recipes and standards
Ensure consistency in food quality, presentation, and portion control
Assist with menu execution for daily dining services and special events
Monitor food temperatures and quality throughout service
Taste and evaluate prepared foods to ensure excellence
Conduct daily rounds of dining venues, including Health Care and Assisted Living dining areas
Support inventory management and food ordering processes
Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and infection control standards
Maintain accurate food production and storage records
Assist with kitchen operations wherever needed to ensure smooth service
Support dish room and utility operations during peak periods when necessary
Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment
High School Diploma/GED required.
Culinary school education; two or four year degree preferred.
Prior experience in related food and beverage service and food preparation services.
Thorough experience in hot and cold food preparation.
Good working knowledge of sanitation and safety guidelines
Experience in long-term care setting or related health care field preferred.
Ability to work in fast-paced environment.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communications skills.
Must have a valid form of federally-issued ID.
Must present self in a professional manner.
Most possess concern, responsiveness, and tact when dealing with others.
Must be able to work collaboratively with others to help colleagues to achieve respective goals for creating wellness opportunities and experiences for our residents.
Must have completed or be willing to complete educational requirements imposed by State regulations within the specified time frame
