Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated OR First Assist/Clinic Registered Nurse (RN) to join our vibrant healthcare team focusing on plastic surgery. NO weekends or call coverage needed! This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide exceptional perioperative and outpatient care in a fast-paced clinical environment. As an integral part of our surgical and outpatient services, you will assist surgeons during procedures, manage patient assessments, and ensure seamless coordination of care. Responsibilities
- Assist plastic surgeons during operative procedures by preparing sterile fields, passing instruments, and ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques.
- Conduct comprehensive preoperative assessments, including vital signs, medical history review, and patient education on procedures and postoperative care.
- Manage intraoperative patient care by monitoring vital signs, maintaining airway patency, and responding promptly to emergent situations such as acute pain or airway compromise.
- Perform post-procedure duties including wound suturing, dressing changes, specimen collection/processing, and documenting all clinical activities accurately in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Provide outpatient clinic support through patient triage, medication administration, teaching and education, assessments, and clinic care.
- Coordinate scheduling, diagnostics, referrals and follow-ups.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain the highest standards of infection control and sterile processing throughout all procedures.
- Educate patients on health coaching topics like nutrition, pain management, or post-discharge discharge planning to promote optimal recovery outcomes.
- Demonstrate proficiency in medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding for procedures, and accurate medical documentation for legal and billing purposes.
Experience
Candidates should bring a robust background that includes:
- RN license
- 1-2 years of first assist experience preferred.
- Ability to scrub and circulate in plastic surgery procedures
- Proven experience in surgical settings such as operating rooms (OR), outpatient clinics, or ambulatory surgery centers .
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems.
- Hands-on skills in IV infusion, venipuncture (phlebotomy), catheterization (urinary or vascular), suturing techniques, and aseptic technique adherence.
- Knowledge of infectious disease protocols and infection control practices essential for safe perioperative environments.
