The 8×10 has served a vibrant live music community for the last four decades by offering diverse entertainment and providing a warm, welcoming “third place” to joyfully gather. Over the last 40 years, the stage at 10 East Cross Street has hosted legendary acts including Nirvana, Widespread Panic, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Phish, Chuck Berry, Dave Matthews Band, Lenny Kravitz, Jimmy Cliff and many more. As of 2026, The 8×10 has entered a new era of stewardship with an ownership group that includes beloved Baltimore musician Cris Jacobs and Rising Sun Presents, a Philadelphia-based live music production company. The 8×10 is a 300-capacity rock club that features a state of the art sound system, an open dance floor with a wraparound balcony, and a full bar with a wide selection of beer, wine, and cocktails. We plan on opening October 6th!
Job Summary:
We are currently seeking a dedicated and reliable Security Guard to join our team. As a Security Guard, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for our patrons and employees. Your primary responsibility will be to monitor and protect the venue, prevent unauthorized access, and respond to any security incidents that may arise.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular patrols of the venue to ensure the safety and security of the facility and patrons
- Enforce entry procedures by checking identification, verifying credentials, and welcoming ticket holders
- Respond alarms or calls for assistance, including investigating disturbances or potential security threats
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting employees, patrons, and artists with inquiries or concerns
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies when necessary to report incidents or provide evidence
- Complete detailed reports on security incidents, including observations, actions taken, and any necessary follow-up
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid security license/certificate
- Proven experience in security or related field preferred
- Knowledge of first aid and CPR techniques preferred
- Familiarity with surveillance equipment such as CCTV systems
- Strong conflict management skills to handle difficult situations calmly and professionally
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Physical fitness and ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time
- Familiarity with loss prevention techniques is a plus
