UBMD Internal Medicine (UBMDIM) is the academic medical practice affiliated with the University at Buffalo's Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. It is the largest practice plan within the UBMD Physicians' Group, with 135 Primary and Specialty Care physicians and 187 staff members across 16 hospital and outpatient clinic locations. This is a part-time on-site role located in the Buffalo, NY for a Medical Biller. The Medical Biller will be responsible for accurately processing claims, handling insurance denials, verifying patient eligibility for medical services, and ensuring compliance with billing regulations such as ICD-10 coding. Additional responsibilities include resolving medical billing issues and maintaining precise documentation to optimize billing accuracy and timeliness.
1. Proficiency in Medical Terminology and a strong understanding of healthcare billing practices
2. Experience in managing Insurance claims and navigating Medicare processes
3. Knowledge of Denials management and the ability to resolve issues effectively
4. Proficiency with ICD-10 coding to ensure compliance and accuracy
5. Must have 1-2 years experence in Behavorial Health medical billing.
6. Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
7. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
8. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems is a plus
9. High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant certifications in medical billing or coding preferred
