Position Summary
The Snowsports Director leads all aspects of the Snowsports school, including instruction, daily operations, staffing, guest experience, and program development. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for delivering safe, high-quality programs, supporting a welcoming community resort environment, and driving participation and revenue.
Key Responsibilities
Hands-On Leadership
· Serve as a working leader by regularly teaching lessons and supporting on-snow operations.
- Lead by example in guest service, professionalism, and teaching quality
· Serve as the primary point of contact for instructors, guests, and partner departments.
Program Management
- Design and deliver lesson programs (private, group, children’s, beginner-focused offerings)
- Keep programs simple, efficient, and accessible to local and visiting guests
- Adjust offerings based on weather, staffing levels, and demand
Staff Management
- Recruit, hire, train, and mentor a small team of instructors (often part-time/seasonal)
- Build a positive, tight-knit team culture
- Create weekly schedules and manage daily lesson assignments
- Provide ongoing coaching and support to develop instructor skills
Daily Operations
- Oversee check-in, lesson group organization, and on-snow flow
· Provide operational support as needed, including desk coverage, rental coordination, instruction, and guest assistance.
· Coordinate with lift operations, grooming, and base lodge teams to support smooth daily operations.
· Coordinate with ski patrol and validation/ticketing staff to ensure safe guest flow and proper access for lesson participants.
- Handle last-minute changes due to weather or staffing
Guest Experience
- Personally engage with guests to create a friendly, community-oriented environment
- Resolve guest concerns quickly and professionally
- Build relationships with repeat guests, families, and local programs
- Ensure beginner guests feel comfortable and supported
Financial & Administrative Responsibilities
- Manage a modest department budget with a focus on cost efficiency
- Track lesson revenue, staffing costs, and participation rates
- Assist with pricing decisions and local marketing efforts
- Handle basic reporting and payroll coordination
Safety & Risk Management
- Promote a strong safety culture on and off the snow
- Ensure instructors follow teaching and safety standards
- Train staff in basic emergency procedures
- Monitor conditions and adapt operations accordingly
Collaboration & Cross-Department Coordination
· Work with the Marketing Manager to promote Snowsports programs, develop seasonal campaigns, and increase lesson participation.
· Partner with the Guest Services Manager to ensure seamless guest experience from booking through lesson completion.
- Provide input on packaging lessons with tickets, rentals, and promotions
- Share guest feedback and operational insights to improve offerings and communication
- Align daily operations with Guest Services to ensure efficient flow during peak periods and events
Qualifications
Education & Experience
· Required: 3–7 years of Snowsports instruction experience.
· Required: PSIA/AASI Level I or II certification.
· Preferred: 1–3 years of leadership or supervisory experience.
· Preferred: PSIA/AASI Level II or III certification and experience in a small or community-based resort environment.

Pay: $27.50 - $30.00 per hour
